Sandra asks…

Strange dog licking behavior?

My jack russell/chiuaua mix is constantly licking the sheets/bedspread. It’s driving me completely nuts. Any suggestions?

admin answers:

Yes, mine does this, it is licking at your scent ( Not that you smell ) but we all do to a dog. It loves you & your scent!

Jenny asks…

My Dog keeps licking his private parts. How can I prevent him from performing such un-Christianlike behavior?

It’s absolutely disgusting, and I’m afraid for his soul! In addition…..

-He has “special relationships” with other male dogs.

-He’s obviously NOT monogomous.

-At the Park, he goes around sniffing other dog‘s butts.

Is there something I can do to prevent this behavior? Should I take him to the Vet?

Serious Answers only please.

David asks…

My dog has been licking one paw for 3 days straight. But there isn’t an obvious wound. Should he visit a vet?

My dog always licks things, but never his own paws – and he’s been doing it continuously for 3 days. However, I can’t afford to take him to a vet unless he really needs to go, so that’s why I’m asking this question. I’ve inspected the front paw that he’s licking, but nothing seems to be wrong. Maybe there’s a bite or something that needs to get tweezed out. Or maybe this is just odd dog behavior?

admin answers:

That is normally a symptom of allergies. Pets become itchy and lick a lot when they experience this, especially the paws. The only problem you may have with the licking is he may create a wound called a lick granuloma. Which sometimes needs special topical meds and an antibiotic. You can try to get something called bitter apple spray and spray the paw to discourage licking. Watch out for a wound.
