How Much To Charge For Taking Care Of Neighbors Dog?

I’m going to be taking care of my neighbors dog, a golden retriver, for 8 days. This will include feeding, walking, putting him in at night and letting him out in the morning. Also I will be feeding the cat and putting him in and out.
My neighbor wants to know how much I want to get paid per day, and that she will pay me as much as a kennel would.
How much should I charge?

I would go for $20 a day. Very reasonable and much cheaper than a kennel so you can be sure she’ll come back.

$ 20 a day is fair… This is what I charge my clients…. It’s an average fee for pet sitting… You need to call some kennels in your area to find out what the fee is…Not all kennel fee’s are the same get some prices and take it from there…

I have an in-home dog-sitting business and here are my thoughts. It’s not fair to charge her the same rate as a kennel (for a dog that size can be $30-50/day - a lot!). If the dog, and cat, are in her house, and you are visiting, I say charge her $10-$15 each time you go over there. Offer to water plants, bring in mail, stuff like that, and you’ll have a customer for life. AND consider doing what I do — write her a cute note about her pets and what they did while she was gone. Her pets are her family, I’ll bet! Good luck and let us know what happens! (P.S. I charge $25/day for dog-sitting in my home - which is way lower than most kennels here - and $12 per cat visit. I don’t take cats in my house, but will visit them.)

I would start looking around on the internet for how much a kennel would charge.
I gave my puppy sitter on average 20 bucks a day. I’d say that would be fair. Since there is a cat maybe 30.

It all depends on how well you get on with your neighbour? If you two are great friends then i wouldn’t give a price, just tell her to give you a ‘drink’, meaning - let her decide how much to give you, this way you’ll most likely end up with more than you bargained for! Good luck.

Kennels here charge anywhere from $15-$50 dollars a day depending on what extras you get. I would probably not charge anything if I had a dog and we could trade off when I go out of town. But, if you won’t be needing that service because you don’t have a dog then I’d go with $20 since there are 2 pets involved.
