What Kind Of Dog Food Is Good For Sensitive, Older Teeth?

Share on TwitterSubmit to StumbleUponDigg This

My wife and I adopted an English Pointer we named Nellie a few months ago from a local shelter. She is about seven years old. We believe she had it pretty rough on the streets, because she is missing some teeth, and her teeth are worn down.
We give both our dogs dry Purina Dog food. Nellie has never been a big eater, but we realized that the reason for that might be because of her teeth. We have been trying to find a dry dog food that will not cause her teeth pain when she eats. Any suggestions?

Has the vet determined if there is any gum disease or teeth needing to be removed?A professional cleaning and check up should clear up any pain.
We have numerous dogs that arrived with terrible dental issues from the mills. Some had exposed nerves from rotted teeth. They have most all had dental surgery along with antibiotics. All now eat their kibble with ease. You would also be surprised at how powerful their jaws are.
You can also moisten the dry food a bit with chicken broth or a bit of canned food to encourage eating.

You need to take her to the vet, so they can determine if she has an Infection, if she needs more teeth removed and a dental cleaning. If she has an Infection, no matter what you feed her it’s going to cause her pain. The longer you let this go, the worse she is going to get, so the sooner you can get her to the vet and get this problem taken care of, the better off your dog will be. If you let this go, the Infection can spread to her bloodstream and she will end up with Sepsis, which is an Infection of the Blood. If that happens, she can die!

Wet the kibble down and let it soak a bit, add some canned food with it.

Purina is one of the worse dog foods on the market. Why would you even think about feeding your poor dogs that garbage?
